Restauracja Szara first opened in 2002 and took its name from the building which has been its home from the beginning – Kamienica Szara (the Grey House). This splendid building, one of the oldest and most magnificent on the Old Market Square, was built in the 14th century. The unique ornate interiors with ceilings decorated by Józef Mehoffer attract and excite the visitor’s eye. Do come and see for yourself how pleasurable it is to enjoy a superb meal in these utterly regal rooms.
A visit to our restaurant, however, does not mean joy of food alone. The restaurant was founded on passion drawing from the best, wisest, and most creative European models. A dozen or so years have sufficed for
No. 6 at the Old Market Square to make a name for itself. Our fine reputation is a result of openness in our approach to cooking and of customer service that’s second to none, yet unostentatious. It also stems from culinary courage, creativity, and attention to detail. In short, we owe our success to the professionalism of the entire team.
The restaurant can seat 110 persons in two rooms. In the summer months, our guests can also enjoy their meals in a garden just outside the restaurant in the Old Market Square offering a beautiful view of the Cloth Hall and St. Mary’s Church with the hourly medieval bugle call to complement the experience.
The Szara Restaurant’s kitchen remains in command of our outstanding chef Jakub Kochana, while Filip Kisiała and Szymon Wąsowski, with grace and expertise, lead the customer service team, the latter also being a titled sommelier.
Our cuisine is considered European with significant Scandinavian features. In addition to our regular menu, Restauracja Szara also offers sophisticated seasonal dishes.
